Your Regional Vice President, Ann McDonough
| I have been an active member of Clan Mackay since shortly
after our family moved to Ohio, roughly 12 years ago. Before then, I was a
public school teacher in California and Texas, and a home-schooling parent
in Michigan, Connecticut, and Ohio. I have been an attorney since 2006 in
Ohio and currently am a prosecuting attorney in Hocking County, Ohio. After my family, my next passion is genealogy. I have been a genealogist since age 17 and have had the ability to research many of our family lines back to the 1600’s. While we lived in Connecticut, we attended a number of Scottish events. At one, a leader asked if there were any Irish in attendance, and we raised our hands. They welcomed us anyway! Of course, at the time, I had no clue that I had any Scottish ancestors. I never believe the family stories until I can document them. Of particular interest is my direct lineage to Malcolm III. When I joined the Clan, I joined under the authority of being a member of the Allen sept. My husband, Gene McDonough, joined under the authority of being a member of the Bain sept. Subsequent to that time, I researched more of our family lines and found the connection to Malcolm III through at least three lines. As of now, Gene still relies on the connection to the Bain sept. |

| My last passion is music, specifically piano performance. I would love it if
only bagpipe music would translate directly to piano scores! My search for a
beautiful and haunting piano version of “Amazing Grace” is not complete. I
remember hearing “Amazing Grace” live for the first time at the 1984
Olympics. I worked at the LA Museum of Science and Industry that summer, and
had the opportunity to hear the bagpipes many, many times that summer. I have never been to Scotland, but I hope to get there in the next year or so. I have served as Ohio State Commissioner and am currently serving as Mid-West Regional Vice President. I served under the leadership of many good people. I plan on many more years of service to the Clan. Best wishes to one and all! |
