KILLIECRANKIE, 1689

Gen. Hugh Mackay is given the protectorship of Scotland.  At the first battle of the pass at Killiecrankie, the government forces are defeated. Then Gen. Hugh Mackay marches through the pass of Killiecrankie.  They find John Graham (Bonnie Dundee) and his army of Highlanders waiting on the high ground.  Gen. Hugh Mackay arranged the regiment in 3 ranks and shortly before sunset the Highlanders attacked in the Highland Charge.  All of the men in the newly raised regiment gave way and ran away.  Only 2 regiments stood firm, the Gen.'s own Scots-Dutch and Leven's Regiment now known as the K.O.S.B..  In the moment of victory, the Highlander's leader, "Bonnie Dundee" is mortally wounded.  Gen. Hugh Mackay gathers the remnants of the army and marches off the field.

By 1690 the peace in Scotland is kept and William of Orange campaigns in Ireland and in 1707 there is an Act of Union between England and Scotland.
