Jeff Herbster, Maine Commissioner for Clan MacKay, shown here with his wife Gerri, is also a very talented piper and demonstrated his talents at the 2005 Maine games at our Clan tent. He drew quite a crowd "practicing" familiar pieces and chatting with folks. After the games he sent me a note saying how excited he was to have been accepted at The Balmoral School of Piping and Drumming.

"It is without a doubt the top ranked school in the U.S. I’m excited about just being in the same room with the best piper in the world, Alisdair Gillies!", he told me.

Our best wishes go out to Jeff in his endeavor! He has agreed to play for us at the Maine Highland Games at Thomas Point, Brunswick, Maine August 19th this year and at the Annual General Meeting at the New Hampshire Gathering of the Clans and Highland Games at the Loon Mountain Ski Resort at Lincoln NH 22-24 September!
