The following letter to our Society President, Dave McKay, suggests one of the ways Clan Mackay USA can fulfill our mission of promoting Scottish heritage.

Dear David

I am writing to you on behalf of the Scottish Executive about our
Homecoming Scotland in 2009.

As you may know, Homecoming Scotland is a series of events and
activities creating a year long celebration of Scotland in Scotland
and these celebrations should be of particular interest to those who
have an affinity with Scotland - whether that be through: family
links; previous visits; having lived worked or studied here; or who
are members of associations with Scottish ties or interests.

You may be aware through my father-in-law Alex Mackay, the
Seonachaidh for the Clan Mackay, that as part of the planning for
2009 we're undertaking research with groups like the Clan Mackay to
gain a better understanding of what would make these 'Affinity Scots'
want to come and visit us in 2009 and how best to keep them informed
about what's happening.

If at all possible, we would appreciate our online survey (which will
run to end throughout April), to be circulated amongst your
membership to allow us to take their views on board in the planning
process). The link to the survey is:

If you wish you can find out more about Homecoming Scotland at

Kind regards
Donna
