On July 25 and 26, 2009 there will be a massive Clan Gathering in Edinburgh. Here is a description and form that you may print out, complete and mail to our President, Dave McKay.

Edinburgh, 2009

On July 25th and 26th of 2009, there will be a Clan Gathering in Edinburgh, Scotland unlike any other Gathering that has been held in Scotland before. This event has been sanctioned by the Association of Scottish Chiefs. The Scots are planning to have a two day Highland Games to be held in Holyrood Park with a Clan march up to the Castle and a Pageant which will be held on the ramparts of the Castle. They are encouraging as many Clans to participate as possible.

Below you will find some details we have obtained from Kate Graham of Caledonian Travel who is working with the committee charged with organizing the Gathering. Kate can make individual arrangements for you to attend as well as organize a Clan Tour of Mackay lands, if there is sufficient interest. Our purpose with the attached questionnaire is to find out just how many of our clan members may be interested in traveling to Scotland to participate in this exciting event. We have detailed some of the activities with approximate prices and would very much appreciate it if you would complete the form and mail back to Clan President, David McKay. Since this promises to be a very popular event with many of the Clans already booked up in Edinburgh, we would appreciate a reply by April 1st so that we can move forward with group arrangements should this be what the majority would like.

Details of the Gathering.

Tickets to the Gathering in Holyrood Park for 2 days, a place in the Clan Parade plus seats at a pageant to be held on the ramparts of Edinburgh Castle – Starting at $195.00 per person.

3 night hotel stay at Express by Holiday Inn - $260.00 per room per night, double occupancy.

3 night stay at the University of Edinburgh accommodations - $225.00 per room per night, double occupancy.

Approximate cost of airline fare from Newark to Edinburgh roundtrip will be

$1000.00

Approximate cost of airline fare from Newark, plus the Gathering, plus a 6 night inclusive tour to the Clan Mackay lands (9 nights accommodation total) in 3/4 star hotels with breakfast and dinner each day, a driver, a highly qualified tour guide for 6 days (not in Edinburgh) entrance fees to all sights of interest, transportation by luxury motor coach (except in Edinburgh where we would house you in a hotel close to the Gathering) transfers from and to the airport - $3,600.00 per person, double occupancy. A single supplement would be an additional $550.00

Please note that all the rates quoted are based on the current rate of exchange which is subject to change and the airfare is based on current rates with anticipated increases and current taxes, which are subject to change.
